Dear struggling soul,
Do you feel hopeless sometimes? Do you feel like you are trying so hard but are failing? Are you desperately trying to hold on to your faith? Do you feel unappreciated? Dear struggling soul, not a leaf falls but He knows it. The burn you feel in your heart right now is a sign that the flame of goodness is still alive inside of you. Do not give up.
Have you forgotten about the time when you had a chance to have a little peek of your textbook during an online exam, but you chose not to? Or what about that time where you turned down an invite despite your immense loneliness because the gathering was questionable?
Do you remember the time you moved a thorny branch off the road hoping for His Mercy? Or the time sleepiness dragged you down but you threw the blanket off to make it in time to the prayer rug before sunrise? How about the time when you handed a mother on the road some change for her children? Your heart swelled with happiness and you hoped that He was happy with you too.
And remember when grief engulfed you like waves from every direction? You cried yourself to sleep not knowing that each tear was washing away a sin and bringing you His Mercy. Because despite the war inside you, you fought to think good of Him and you held on.
What about the time you felt like removing your hijab for that one day but decided it wasn’t worth it? Or the time your friend handed you a lit cigarette, but you refused? Or that time when you had all the opportunity in the world to take a look, but you lowered your eyes and turned away? And what about when they laughed at your beard? It stung. But here you are growing it anyway.
How about that time you stayed by your mother’s bed massaging her feet while your eyes fought to stay open? Or what about the time you decided to pray two rak’ahs as night prayer before you went off to bed? Or that time where you walked away from a relationship you weren’t supposed to be in even though every part of your heart begged not to let go?
Dear struggling soul, not a leaf falls but He knows it. Do not doubt for a second that the good you do goes unnoticed in the Seven Heavens. How little do you know. Perhaps these little bits of goodness you do are leaving a trail that perhaps, just perhaps, at the finish line you find as mighty mountains weighing great in the scales of Al Shakoor. A beautiful recompense!
Sincerely, Another struggling soul
